Editorial Policy

Engine Needs publishes practical guides on engine care, fluids, maintenance and repairs for cars and trucks, with a focus on brands like Ford, BMW and Chevrolet. This page explains how our content is created, checked and updated, so you can decide how much to rely on it.

Editorial Policy

  • Sources we use: owner’s manuals, manufacturer service information and fluid specifications, technical service bulletins, published automotive engineering resources and long-established mechanic practice. Where a capacity, torque value or fluid spec depends on model year, engine or trim, we say so.
  • How content is produced: our editorial process uses research and writing tools, including AI-assisted drafting, to organize information. Articles are then reviewed and edited for accuracy, clarity and safety before publication.
  • Always confirm specs: our guides are general information. Before adding fluids or tightening parts, confirm values in your vehicle’s owner’s manual or with a qualified mechanic.
  • Safety first: work on vehicles can be dangerous. We do not recommend repairs that bypass safety systems, and we point readers to a professional for brakes, airbags, fuel systems and high-voltage hybrid/EV components.
  • Updates: we revise articles when we learn about errors, outdated specs or better methods, and we remove pages that no longer meet our standards. Each article shows its last updated date.
  • Independence: no brand pays to influence our advice. Some pages contain affiliate links, which never change what we recommend.

Corrections Policy

If you find a mistake, please use our contact page and include the article link and what should change. We review every report and update the article when a correction is needed.

We welcome questions and experiences from other drivers and DIY mechanics. Comments with hate speech, personal attacks, spam or unsafe advice are removed.
