Best Oil For 2014 GMC Sierra

The manufacturer recommends factory motor oil for GMC sierra 1500. There are three grades of oil based on their viscosity (thickness and heavy-duty character). Thicker oils like Mobil 1 120764 5W-30 will preserve engine parts like pistons, cams, valves, and other components from wear because they are thicker than other types of lubricants.

Following recommended oil for GMC sierra 1500 provides better heat dispersion and greater tolerance to high temperatures than other less weight options.

The oil capacity varies by vehicle, engine size, and oil type. For example, a four-cylinder car consumes less oil. It uses regular oil, unlike a high-performance V-8 engine that uses pure synthetic oil.

The majority of 2014 GMC Sierra engines require anything from 5 to 8 quarts of oil every operation hour. A 4-cylinder engine requires 5 quarts of oil, while a 6-cylinder engine requires 6 quarts. Compared to the 2014 GMC Acadia oil capacity, which has an engine oil capacity of 5.5qt(5.2L), the 2014 GMC Sierra 4.3 oil capacity is slightly greater.

If you are confident enough and want to save a few bucks, you must know how to change the oil in the 2014 GMC Sierra. To replace your own car’s oil, you’ll need the following tools and follow the steps:

Needed Tools:

Step 1: Set up the front end on stands

Take caution when jacking up your truck. Then place the jack stands under the frame.

Step 2: Unplug the oil pan

The drain stopper is located on the bottom side of the oil pan. You’ll need a 15 mm wrench to remove it, and then the plug will be quite secure. Place the oil-catching container beneath the plug you’re removing.

Step 3: Drain oil in the container

You’ll need to empty your GMC Sierra’s 6 quarts of oil. Replacing the oil pan drain plug will stop the Texas Tea from escaping. So, tighten it up, but not too tight, or you won’t be happy when you try to remove it the following time.

Step 4: Change the oil filter

The oil filter is in the driver’s side oil pan. To remove it, you’ll need a 3/4″ ratchet wrench. The oil will start to flow as soon as you undo the filter. The oil gathers behind the filter pan. Before removing the filter, drain it of oil. Cleaning the filter’s mounting area on the oil pan Remove any glued-on old filter seals.

Spray the new oil on the new oil filter’s rubber seal. Tighten the new filter on the oil pan. Not with the oil filter wrench; it will seal a little.

Step 5: Replace engine oil

Wipe away any grease from the car’s frame.

Take the jacks down. The valve cover for the passenger is shown here. Fill the oil filler with 6 quarts of new oil. Then check the oil with the dipstick. Idling your GMC Sierra normalizes the oil pressure, stops the engine and changes the oil. The dipstick should be full of oil and in the normal working range. Look for leaks under your automobile. Reset the oil life meter to 100%.

How to Reset Oil Life on GMC Sierra 2014

Oil change reset in the 2014 GMC Sierra is a simple process. There’s an Oil Life Remaining Percentage indicator on the GMC Sierra. Example: “REMAINING OIL LIFE 70%” signifies 70% of existing oil life remains. After the service, follow these steps to reset the oil.

Step 1- Set the ignition to “On” and Don’t start the engine;

Step 2- Step on the gas pedal three times in five seconds, slowly;

Step 3- Switch off the ignition;

Step 4- Your GMC Sierra’s Oil Life will be reset when you restart it.
